The Michigan Department of Transportation maintains 51 miles of state trunk lines within the city of Detroit. For example, the State of Michigan is responsible for Michigan, Woodward, and Grand River avenues. The Wayne County Road Commission maintains roads within the city limits, in addition to all freeways and certain surface state trunk lines, such as Telegraph Road and Eight Mile Road.
